Sharon Taylor Sharon was born in 1974 in Zimbabwe to a Danish mother and an English father. She lived there until the age of 5 when her diplomat father was posted to Japan. She spent most of her youth in this culturally diverse country, attending the English speaking academy in Tokyo. Her parents were anxious for her to go to finishing school in Switzerland and to follow her father into the Diplomatic service, but Sharon was more interested in artistic pursuits. She left school at 17 against her parents wishes it must be said, and went to art school in Tokyo. She studied the principles of art and design for 2 years, but it was here that she discovered a love of creating imaginative and exotic hair styles. Her flair for design and eye for colour won her a scholarship to train in the acclaimed London school of Hairdressing, birth place of such trendsetters as Vidal Sassoon and Nicky Clarke. Sharon graduated in 1999 and spent the next two years working in many of the worlds most fashionable cities: Rome, Milan, New York and Paris. She then began to work for a top Los Angeles Stylist, responsible for several grooming some of the biggest movie stars of our time. Her dream however has always been to create styles that everyone can wear, bringing out the beauty in all of us. She decided to open her flagship store in New York, simply called Hair by Sharon Taylor. Her client list reads like a who's who of celebrities: Gwyneth Paltrow, Brittney Spears and Julia Roberts among a few of those who drop in when they are in town. 2004 saw the opening of her second salon in the heart of London, with a VIP service but also offering affordable hair care for everyone. Sharon also hopes to expand her business to offer additional beauty treatments not yet available anywhere else in the UK. Watch this space!
